Power Sector Support in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh

Hima Matrix is actively engaged in serving the power sector, with a specific focus on thermal power plants in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. These states boast a robust power segment, primarily dominated by state-run thermal and hydel power plants, complemented by a handful of private projects in the thermal and solar sectors.

      Telangana:

Telangana boasts an impressive installed capacity for electricity generation, primarily from coal-based thermal power plants. The state's power generation capacity stands at approximately 12,200 MW, with around 8,000 MW generated from state government-run thermal power plants. Notable installations include:

      • Kothagudem Thermal Power Station: Stages V to VII - 1,550 MW
      • Kakatiya Thermal Power Project: Stages I & II - 500 MW + 600 MW = 1,100 MW
      • Bhadradri Thermal Power Plant: 4 x 270 MW = 1,080 MW
      • Yadadri Thermal Power Plant: 5 x 800 MW = 4,000 MW
      • Ramagundam Thermal Power Station: 2 x 62 MW = 125 MW

Additionally, Singareni Collieries Co. Ltd. has installed two 800 MW thermal power plants with plans for capacity expansion. The central government, through NTPC, operates a 2,600 MW thermal power plant at Ramagundam, with further expansion initiatives in progress. While private operators contribute to solar and captive power generation, the focus remains on captive consumption. The region also witnesses power generation from hydel and solar sources, totaling around 2,500 MW, with future expansion plans in renewable and alternative energy sources.

      Andhra Pradesh:

Andhra Pradesh possesses an overall installed capacity of approximately 14,000 MW from coal-based power plants, with around 7,000 MW generated from privately operated plants. Key installations include:

      • Dr. NTTPS Power Plant (Vijayawada Thermal Power Station), Vijayawada: Stages I to V - 2,560 MW
      • Rayalaseema Thermal Power Station, Kadapa: Stages I to IV - 1,850 MW
      • SDSTPS, Nellore: Stages I & II - 2,400 MW
      • NTPC Simhadri, Vizag
      • Other units such as Jindal Power, Sembcorp, etc.

Around 9,000 MW of electricity is generated from gas-based, solar, and hydel plants in Andhra Pradesh.
